Automatic Reserve Switching System PSS-BAR | PSS Corporation

Automatic Reserve Switching System PSS-BAR

The Automatic Reserve Switching System PSS-BAR is created to automatic switching of the main transformer rectifier unit (TRU) to the reserve, in the event of a lack of supply voltage of the main transformer rectifier unit or its out of range, as well as in case of failure of the main transformer rectifier unit (in the absence of output voltage).

The units manufactured in moderate climatic version are designed for outdoor use, units manufactured in climatic version M2 are designed for operation under a canopy or indoors. They provide reliable stable operation when exposed to external climatic and atmospheric factors:

  • Ambient temperature from -45° С to +50° С
  • Relative humidity (at 25° С) up to 98%
  • Atmosphere type I, II
  • Atmospheric pressure 86.6 - 106.7 kPa (650 to 800 mm Mercury)

Features

The PSS-BAR is constructively made according to the building-block concept. The units are placed inside a metal cabinet, on the front side of which a door with two locks is installed. The degree of protection of the cabinet is IP34. The PSS-BAR can operate in both automatic and manual modes. The main operating mode is automatic. The manual mode is used for servicing the transformer rectifier unit and setting the required output parameters in them. Natural air-cooling. Weight does not exceed 25 kg.

The principle of operation of the PSS-BAR is based on the continuous analysis by the control unit of the input voltage parameters of the main and backup feeders, as well as the output voltages of the operating transformer rectifier unit and control of solid-state relays (depending on the values of the above parameters), through which power is supplied to the main and backup transformer rectifier unit.

The PSS-BAR consists of the following units:

  • Switching unit
  • Control unit (CU)
  • Solid-sate relay unit
  • Power diode unit

The PSS-BAR provides protection against lightning overvoltages from the side of the mains voltage inputs of the main and standby feeders, as well as from the side of the input of the total and polarization potential measurement circuits.

The PSS-BAR is equipped with light signaling:

  • The presence of supply voltage from the main and standby feeder
  • About supply voltage to the main or standby transformer rectifier unit
  • On availability of the output voltage of the main and standby transformer rectifier unit
