Ceramic Copper/Copper Sulfate Reference Electrode
The Ceramic Copper/Copper Sulfate Reference Electrode (PSS-ESTD) is used in cathodic protection to measure the polarization and total utilization of underground steel structures by making electrolytic contact with the ground.
Purpose
The copper/copper sulfate (Cu/CuSO) reference electrode ESTD (with a solid-state electrolyte) is designed for work in cathodic protection systems to measure the polarization and total potential of underground steel structures by creating an electrolytic contact with the ground.
ESTD allows measuring the protective (total) and polarization (by the method of disconnecting the auxiliary electrode current) potentials of underground steel structures.
ESTDs are installed with transformer rectifier units (TRUs), corrosion rate monitoring and test stations in places determined by cathodic protection projects.
Description
The Ceramic Copper/Copper Sulfate Reference Electrode ESTD has a porous ceramic cylinder, inside which there is a copper electrode surrounded by solid-state electrolyte. The ends of the casing of the solid-state reference electrode are protected from mechanical damage by elastic covers. A potential sensor is located on the housing.
To obtain reliable readings of the potentials in the winter period, it is necessary to install the ESTD below the level of soil freezing.
Advantages
- The electrode can be reused throughout its entire service life.
- It is possible to reuse the electrode at any time during the specified service life.
- When installed in dry ground, soak ESTD in clean water for 30-60 seconds.
- When installed in wet ground, it does not require presoaking.
