Diode-Resistor Blocks (Modernized) — PSS-BDR(M)-10, PSS-BDR(M)-25, PSS-BDR(M)-50

The Modified Diode Resistive Unit PSS-BDR(M) is intended for simultaneous protection of up to 4 unconnected underground metal structures against corrosion and elimination of the harmful effect of protective installations of separate protection on adjacent communication lines. The PSS-BDR(M) operates in conjunction with a transformer rectifier and provides cathodic protection of structures by setting a protection current for each of the items, depending on the state of their insulation. The units can be used as a polarized drainage. They meet the requirements of TS 3415-004-73892839-2006, a set of design documentation.

Application

In any area where a cathodic protection device from one station to several objects at once is economically profitable, the PSS-BDR(M) unit can be used. The device effectively protects the structures of the oil and gas industry, chemical, industrial complexes, housing and communal enterprises. Also PSS-BDR(M) is used in the energy industry to insulate power cables.

Versions

  • Standard version in the cabinet
  • Unit built into the KIP.PSS rack with connection of channels to the control panel. Racks of a triangular section with a side of 180 mm, or a square section with a side of 208 mm, are equipped with an additional window (s) for servicing BDR channels and ventilation openings for free cooling of the units.
  • Version in a cabinet mounted on the test station rack.

Features and Advantages

  • Flexible configuration of protection indicators for each of the channels.
  • Easy device maintenance, low labor costs.
  • Using one contactor per channel.
  • Using varistors for reliable lightning protection.
  • Installation on horizontal and vertical surfaces, on power transmission line supports.
  • Resistance to atmospheric agents, the ability to operate outdoors in the temperature range from -45 to +45° C.
  • The service life is up to 20 years.

The multichannel units can be connected in parallel circuits to increase the total current indicators or in series to increase the resistance indicators. Using PSS-BDR(M) units, it is possible to implement unpolarized channels or channels with reverse current conductivity. Depending on the modification, it is possible to connect telemetry systems and other instrumentation (ammeters, voltmeters).
