Protection of ports and quays with sacrificial anodes is a traditional solution. The sacrificial anodes are recommended to be used to protect the underwater part of the hulls of docking fleet vessels, vessels during the completion of construction afloat, floating docks, port cranes, cables, sheet pile walls, offshore oil racks, derricks, pipelines and other metal structures, constantly or periodically operated in seawater, against corrosion.
Purpose and description of P-NOA
The non-disconnectable single sacrificial anodes with ballast resistance P-NOA are designed to protect the internal surfaces of tanks and vessels from corrosion. The sacrificial anodes are efficient, maintenance-free and do not require power supply. Installation and renewal of sacrificial cathodic protection does not cause any difficulties in the construction of ships and during their repair. Basically, its service life can be set in any way, depending on a number of sacrificial anodes. By changing the material and size of the sacrificial anodes, protection can be provided for almost all sea areas. All manufactured types of protectors are made of zinc and aluminum alloys in accordance with GOST 26251-84 and have certificates issued by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
P-NOA operating principle
The operating principle of sacrificial protection is to create a protective potential when current flows in a galvanic pair of a structure-sacrificial anode. In the structure-sacrificial anode chain, the sacrificial anode is the anode, and the structure is the cathode. The current flowing from the sacrificial anode enters the structure and suppresses or limits corrosive elements on its surface, and, consequently, prevents corrosive destruction of the structure.
