Pulse Transformer Rectifier IPKZ-RA is the equipment used in the cathodic protection system for underground parts of metal structures.

Pulse Transformer Rectifier IPKZ-RA is the equipment used in the cathodic protection system for underground parts of metal structures. This device converts alternating electric current into direct current and supplies the required potential to the protected elements. IPKZ-RA is one of the most popular transformer rectifier options used in modern cathodic protection systems.
The transformer rectifier is made as a block of equipment consisting of a terminal panel, a control system and power modules - depending on the model, their number can vary from one to four. The unit is located inside a protected metal cabinet mounted on a support rack.
The equipment is manufactured in accordance with the main technical requirements OTT-75-180.00-KTN-016-19 for modular transformer rectifiers (TU 27.11.50-098-73892839-2019), that are included in the Core Products Register of Transneft PJSC.
Functionality
The transformer rectifiers operate in the following modes:
1) automatic maintenance of the total potential at a given level in the range of values from minus 3.5 V to minus 0.5 V;
2) automatic maintenance of the polarization potential at a given level in the range of values from minus 2.0 V to minus 0.5 V;
3) automatic maintenance of protective current (stabilization of the output current);
4) automatic stabilization of the output voltage.
The manufacturer has calibrated the measuring circuits of the transformer control unit. The control unit is used as an indicator of the output parameters and operating modes of the transformer rectifier. To control the correctness of maintaining the set value of the output parameter of the transformer rectifier, it is necessary to use certified external specialized measuring devices of the approved type, which are connected to the corresponding transformer terminals.
The transformer rectifiers have the following versions:
IPKZ-RA-E - modular pulse transformer rectifiers with natural cooling of "Raduga" type modules;
IPKZ-RA-E-R - modular pulse transformer rectifiers with natural cooling of "Raduga" -type modules with 100% redundancy of power modules;
IPKZ-RA-EM - modular pulse transformer rectifiers with natural cooling of modules multichannel of "Raduga" type;
IPKZ-RA-EM-R - modular pulse transformer rectifiers with natural cooling of modules multichannel "Raduga" type with 100% channel redundancy;
Telemetry types:
T1 - connection through the "current loop" communication channel with physical signals (analog (4 - 20 mA) and discrete);
Т2 - connection to the transformer via a serial digital interface RS-485, Modbus RTU protocol;
Т3 – connection through GSM/GPRS communication channel version 1 (basic);
T4 - connection through GSM/GPRS communication channel version 2 (with two SIM cards);
Т5 - connection through GSM/GPRS communication channel version 3;
Т6 – connection to a transformer through radio channel (in the UHF range or others).
The combinations of telemetry types can be implemented in transformers. In this case, the designation should be carried out as follows:
Т13 – combination of types Т1 and Т3
Т25 – combination of types Т2 and Т5
Т124 – combination of types Т1, Т2 and Т4 etc.
When installing, assembling and operating the transformer rectifiers, it is necessary to follow the requirements of the operating manual for the IPKZ-RA-E (M).27.11.50.04RE transformers and IPKZ-RA-E (M) .27.11.50 installation manual.
