The Reference Electrode ESTD is used in an electrochemical corrosion protection system to measure the polarization and total utilization of underground steel structures by making electrolytic contact with the ground.
Purpose of the Reference Electrode ESTD
ESTDs are installed with Transformer Rectifier (TR), corrosion monitoring subsystems (PKM) and test posts (KIP) in places determined by cathodic protection projects.
Description of the non-polarizable solid-state copper sulphate reference electrode ESTD
The ESTD is a porous ceramic cylinder, inside which there is a copper electrode surrounded by solid-state electrolyte. The ends of the casing of the solid-state reference electrode are protected from mechanical damage by elastic covers. A potential sensor is located on the housing.To obtain reliable readings of the potentials in the winter period, it is necessary to install the ESTD below the level of soil freezing.
Advantages of solid-state electrodes ESTD
The electrode can be reused throughout its entire service life.It is possible to reuse the electrode at any time during the specified service life.
When installed in dry ground, soak ESTD in clean water for 30-60 seconds.
When installed in wet ground, it does not require presoaking.
