Description
Intended use
The Propeller shaft Earthing System (PSES) is intended for grounding the propeller shaft and continuous monitoring of it, creating a reliable electrical connection between the shaft, propeller, and rudder with the ship's hull to prevent corrosion.Consists of
Slip ring (made of copper with a solid silver inlay track);Brush holder;
Silver graphite brushes;
Millivolt meter (mV);
Rudder grounding cable.
Operating Principle
The grounding system works to ensure optimal flow of protective electric current from the anode (ship's hull) to the cathode (propeller) in seawater. Voltage values of 80 mV or more indicate the occurrence of corrosion or a malfunction in the active corrosion protection system of the ship. The absence of readings may indicate "brush bounce."Conditions of Use
The grounding system is used on vessels equipped with impressed current corrosion protection systems. If only sacrificial protection is installed on the object, then PSES is not used. In this case, the rudder and propeller are protected from corrosion by additional sacrificial anodes on the rudder and hull fairing.How to buy
