Polarized Resistor Drainage Station
Polarized Resistor Drainage Station (PSS-DRP) is intended for cathodic protection for underground metal structures (pipelines, cables, etc.) located in the zone of action of stray currents arising from DC rail electric transport. In case of close occurrence of metal structures protected by the cathodic protection method and railway tracks, a negative effect of stray currents on the quality of cathodic protection is possible. To remove them, a polarized resistor electric drainage is used. Due to it, the current is diverted directly to the rail network or to the traction substation.
Design and function
The unit is made in the form of frameless cabinet, in the front and rear parts of which the doors with locks are installed.
Air-cooling of the device is natural. There are ventilation louvers in the base and sidewalls of the cabinet.
There is a bolt in the base runner to connect the device body to the ground loop.
For lifting and transporting the device, transport loops are installed in the upper part of the sidewalls.
The unit is installed on a flat base or optional frame and bolted.
The cables are supplied to the device at the bottom of the cabinet.
Operation
When protecting underground metal structures (utilities) from corrosion by drainage of the DRP, the current regulation in the direction is carried out by valves, and in magnitude - by adjusting resistors.
The regulating resistors are made of a precision alloy with high electrical resistance. The combination of jumpers sets the required resistance.
When replacing diodes, it is not required to select them according to the identity of their current-voltage characteristics.
The drainage current is regulated by changing a number of operational sections.

The devices are unified to the maximum extent in terms of design and circuitry solutions.
By structural design, the devices provide for the possibility of making the bottom cable entry.
The design provides for replacement of any of the functional units in the event of malfunction.
The metal elements of the device have an anti-corrosion (protective) coating.
